High School Orchestra

2018-19

Register your students online prior to midnight on October 10, 2018. Late enrollment (with fee increase) is due by October 30. New teachers—it is highly encouraged that you talk to your bookkeeper to make sure checks will be cut in time for this event (it has been an issue with some districts in the past). On-time registration fee is $10 per student; October 30 late registration fee is $20 per student; and on-site registration the day of auditions is $50 per student.

Students in grades 10, 11, and 12 are eligible for this ensemble.

Auditions will be held Saturday, November 10 at Eudora High School 2203 Church Street, Eudora, KS 66025, beginning with student registration at 7:30 AM. We ask all teachers to meet at 7:00 AM to go over the audition process. Follow signs in the school to location of the orchestra directors room.

Teachers will be expected to be a part of the audition process and are encouraged to attend the NEKMEA Fall Meeting on Monday, September 10, at Holton Elementary School, 812 West 5th, Holton, KS. Information for the meeting will be posted on the Home page of this site.

Students can wear casual clothes and are encouraged to bring a music stand for the warm up room on audition day. There will be snacks available for purchase in Eudora High School. If chosen for the District Orchestra, students are expected to wear their school's concert uniform (black dress or tux).

Literature will be chosen soon and practice copies will be sent to directors in November. The NEKMEA High School Orchestra rehearsal/performance will be held on Saturday, December 1, at Topeka-Washburn Rural High School 5900 SW 61st, Topeka, KS 66619.

We are still working on the schedule for the mini convention and the audition workers.
