Elizabeth Hogan McFarland has over 10 years of teaching experience in K-12 and higher education throughout Missouri. She is an Assistant Professor of Music Education at Southeast Missouri State University. In this capacity, she guides vocal and instrumental music education majors from their first semester to their emergence as professionals in their student teaching practicum and beyond. She is the founding Artistic Director of the Courante Youth Chorus. Dr. McFarland was previously a vocal music teacher at Parkway North High School and Northeast Middle School in suburban St. Louis. She has also taught courses and supervised student teachers for the University of Missouri (Columbia), the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Webster University. She directed ensembles and served as the Community Engagement Coordinator for The St. Louis Children's Choirs, a role that allowed her the opportunity to design and provide oversight for a new program called Music Made Together, which seeks to connect students and teachers in under-served areas of St. Louis with resources in choral music. Her community engagement efforts successfully increased diversity within the children's choirs, and supported music teachers throughout the St. Louis region.
